Stator motor starting resistance
A simple, robust, and economical starting resistor.
Delivered in IP23 enclosures, the starting resistors are calculated for each application and then manufactured in our workshops from stainless steel.
The result: starting resistors that provide identical starts, faithfully accompanying even the harshest processes | vibrations, humidity, corrosive atmosphere, heat, cold, dust, etc.
The boxes are sized for a certain number of starts and a certain timing period, and are protected in case these limits are exceeded.
Benefits
- Initial power supply to the motor at reduced voltage
- Takeoff torque adjustment
- Smooth ramp-up
- Economical
- Ideal for machines with increasing torque
- Maintenance-free
Principle
Most stator starts are performed in one step (with resistors in series, then switching the power supply directly to the motor).
A stator resistor start provides faster and more efficient torque growth than a star/delta start.
Initially, the resistors, in series with the motor, absorb and dissipate a fraction of the voltage: the motor is powered by a reduced voltage. Then, the starting torque decreases, so the voltage absorbed by the resistors drops and the voltage across the motor terminals increases. This natural action ensures a fast start that is gentle on the equipment. Once the optimal threshold is reached, the resistors are short-circuited and the motor is powered directly. The motor is always connected to the mains and does not experience any jolts.
