Stator motor starting resistor
A sober, robust and economical starting resistor.
Supplied in IP23 boxes, starting resistors are calculated for each application, then manufactured in our stainless steel workshops.
The result: starting resistors that deliver identical start-ups, faithfully accompanying even the toughest processes - vibration, humidity, corrosive atmospheres, heat, cold, dust, etc.
Boxes are dimensioned for a given number of starts and stall time, and are protected in the event of overruns.
Benefits
- Initial motor supply at reduced voltage
- Take-off torque adjustment
- Smooth load build-up
- Economical
- Ideal for machines with increasing torque
- Maintenance-free
Principle
Most stator starting is a one-step process (with resistors in series, then switching the power supply directly to the motor).
Starting with stator resistors gives faster, more efficient torque growth than star/delta starting.
Initially, the resistors, in series with the motor, absorb and dissipate a fraction of the voltage: the motor is supplied with a reduced voltage. As the inrush torque decreases, the voltage absorbed by the resistors drops and the voltage at the motor terminals rises. This natural action guarantees fast, gentle starting. At the optimum threshold, the resistors are short-circuited and the motor is powered directly. The motor is always connected to the mains, and suffers no jolts.
